The Electrical Energy Storage (EES) Research Team at IKERLAN has an exciting opportunity for an electrical electrical/electronic engineer to study and develop Battery Management Systems (BMS) for different battery technologies (based on Lithium or Nickel).
The candidate will be in charge of designing and developing Battery Management Systems (BMS) which performs advanced functions like monitoring and protection of cells, SOC (state of charge) and SOH (state of health) estimation, cell balancing and others.
You will have the opportunity to interact with the Control Engineering and Power Electronics Research Teams (with extensive experience in developing novel EES solutions for industry applications, in the Energy and transport sectors) to aid in applied-oriented research and forging links to academia and industry.
Key Success Factors
- Recent PhD in electrical/electronic engineering, chemical engineering, or closely related field
- The ability to perform well in team research.
- Extensive direct experience in Battery Management Systems (BMS) development (HW and SW)
- Extensive experience with Battery modeling and SOC/SOH estimation algorithms
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Desired Traits
- Knowledge of battery characterization methods and material
- Knowledge on safety concepts for Li-ion batteries
- Knowledge in battery sizing for demanding applications
- Knowledge in mechanical packaging and battery thermal management
- Expertise with Matlab/Simulink, SABER and C (programming language).
